Contents insurance valuers

Professional valuation of rare and valuable antiques for all major insurance companies.

Fine Antiques are frequently commissioned to provide written valuation reports for insurance companies and wise customers who wish to ensure their assets are correctly insured.

Canterbury earthquakes created extraordinary demand for home contents valuation. As a Christchurch based company, Fine Antiques have provided 1000's of valuations for EQC and insurance companies without issue and most importantly 100% acceptance.

Our valuation methods ensure we report full replacement values of your items.

This will provide fair compensation to allow purchase of the same or similar item. Where objects are only available Internationally other related costs will be added such as buyers commissions at auction, postage and packaging, importation duties, certification and government taxes.

If your insurance policy only provides indemnity value then it is worth understanding that antiques and works-of-art typically have an indemnity value equivalent to full replacement.

Replacement value will be effected by the condition of your item prior to the event or loss.

Fine Antiques have been involved with earthquake contents appraisals from the very beginning and asked numerous times to provide second opinions for insurance claims.

Travel to your place to value items is possible however if you prefer to bring them to us, please make an appointment.

Many Insurance companies commission our written valuations on your behalf, however where you approach us you are typically expected to pay our valuation fees and then the insurance companies will often re-imbused you. If you are unsure, please ask your insurer or insurance broker.

Antony Gough - Testimonial

To Paul and the team at Fine Antiques,

Antony Gough with DavidIt is with pleasure that I write this testimonial for you.

Antony Gough engaged the services of Fine Antiques to complete his contents claim following the February 2011 earthquakes. During this time Antony became very involved in the city’s rebuild and his personal earthquake claims were put to the side.

In 2015 it was decided that action should be taken and therefore Antony employed the services of fine antiques so that he could make good use of their expertise and knowledge to value his large antique collection and other curiosities.

Antony was able to trust that Fine Antiques could do the work and provide a well-documented valuation. This meant that when Antony’s claim was lodged it was settled in a matter of weeks.

I would like to thank Fine Antiques for their professional manner, sound knowledge and attention to detail they went beyond the brief in valuing items even by searching overseas. Antony found them incredibly knowledgeable.

Many Thanks

Lisa Williams
